The Author
Markus Webb manages a portfolio of digital properties across multiple niches, with experience spanning domain acquisition, authority building, content operations, and strategic SEO.
His background comes from acquiring expired domains, auditing inherited backlink profiles, designing site structures from scratch, rebuilding properties that had lost their authority through neglect, and managing the slow, compounding process of building trust across web properties in different industries.
He started where most website owners start: publishing content and hoping it would rank. It did not take long to realize that content without authority infrastructure is what AMS calls The Infrastructure Illusion: a building with no foundation. Some pages ranked. Most did not. The difference was never quality.
Why AMS exists
AMS exists because Markus needed it himself. Before it was a book series, it was a set of internal protocols (spreadsheets, checklists, decision trees) used to manage his own portfolio. The books are the documented version of a system that was built through operation, not theory.
After years of refining those protocols, the pattern became clear: most website owners and even experienced SEOs operate under what the book calls The Infrastructure Illusion, the belief that having content, a design, and hosting constitutes infrastructure. It does not.
The distance between the quality of your content and the visibility it receives, The Authority Gap, is a measurement of missing infrastructure. The books document the system for closing that gap.
What Markus does
He manages digital properties and writes about the system he uses to do it. Every concept in the AMS collection (Structural Debt, Authority Decay, the Entity Stack, Cognitive Validation) comes from operational experience managing real web properties in competitive markets.
The Authority Management System is the operational framework behind those properties. If it helps you manage your web properties better, that is the entire point.
Where to start
If you only read one book in the series, start with The Authority Gap (AMS Foundations). It covers what authority is, why it matters more than content quality, how it is measured, how it decays, and what determines who gets seen. Everything that follows depends on understanding the framework first.
